For Margarita, From Amado, Valentine’s, 1962

You are the air
that I want to kiss,
You are the body
that I want to feel,
You are the rose
that I want to look,
You are the light
that I want to follow,
You are the idea
that I want to dream,
You are the life
that I want to live,
to kiss, to feel, to look, to follow, to dream, to live…..,
everything that I want to do,
is with you.
This piece is a translation of a Spanish poem that I found in my old teaching module today. The title of the original poem was “Te Quiero”, meaning “I love You”.
This title is the translated version of the original footnote that was attached with this poem.
