Eudaimonia

“Eudaimonia” is a word from the Greek language which doesn’t have an exact English equivalent, but can be commonly translated as – ‘Happiness’ or ‘welfare’.

But a more accurate translation would be akin to – “blessedness” or “human flourishing & prosperity”. Its the feeling of being one with the world, a state where you enjoy every second of life, unburdened by self-doubt and worries. Aristotle called it the the highest form of human good. Its a way of life where you feel maximum happiness, not at the expense of others but through your own self actualization.

Its a beautiful word.

Its also probably the closest one can come to answering the question – ‘what is happiness?’

Happiness is to be in a state of Eudaimonia, for the majority of time.
